The much anticipated new System 6 helmet Communication System, offering a range of technological advancements over its predecessor, is now available in BMW Motorrad Dealerships.
With the new System 6 Communication System, voice outputs from the BMW Motorrad Navigator IV are audible even when helmet-to-helmet communication is in progress. Two helmets can be paired for communication: rider and pillion, or with another rider up to 30 metres away. In addition, the system can be linked to other Bluetooth devices such as a mobile phone or music player.
The BMW Communication System features a prioritising facility that is programmed to interrupt any low-priority connection whenever a higher-priority paired device transmits a signal. For example, if the rider is listening to music when a mobile phone rings, the call will automatically interrupt the music feed and restore it once the call has ended. This automatic changeover enables quick, easy and safe transfer between devices.
Operating the BMW Communication System whilst riding is simple; three easy-to-operate buttons are installed on the left side of the helmet to switch between music and intercom, or adjust power and volume. The volume buttons also offer a quick ‘mute’ function with a brief double-click.
The electronics on the helmet are concealed and protected from the elements, while the keypad is also weather and UV resistant, increasing durability. In addition, the new system features a test mode for a function check which is unique to this product. Battery life is a useful 12-13 hours.
The new bow mike design is resilient to the elements and has automatic noise suppression to limit disturbance for clearer communication. In addition, the system will automatically adjust the volume to compensate for noise disturbance dependant on speed. At slower speeds, the system also functions with the visor open.
The BMW Communication System is now available in BMW Motorrad dealerships priced at £268.62 with a two-year warranty once it has been fitted. For installation BMW Motorrad recommends visiting any authorised BMW Motorrad dealership.
